smartDIGITAL™, the Chicago-based startup that provides interactive technology that engages consumers through digital media, ads and services, just raised $2.7 million in a Series A funding round led by Advantage Capital Partners, with Metropolitan Capital Bank.
Using interactive kiosks with multi-touch screens and pre-installed I/O devices such as a camera, printer, barcode scanner, and even a credit swipe, smartDIGITAL’s interactive ads do more than just showcase brands. They’re more like an all-in-one relationship-building platform for businesses.

The company has kiosks available in key locations in Chicago and Miami, with plans to expand to other markets like New York, California and Florida already in place.
However, whether this type of advertising actually produces value for businesses or not is still up in the air. So we’ll have to wait and see how businesses like Groupon and The Chicago Tribune fare with this interactive ad platform.
